2011-2012の世界大学ランキング
後期がようやくはじまったところで、世界大学ランキングが発表された(べつに関係はないけねど)。ランキングは「The Times Higher Education」(Thomson Reuters)というサイトにあります。
The fall semester has begun and they just published a list ranking the top 400 Universities of the world (The Higher Education).
ことしのは＃１「California Institute of Technology」. 日本人によくしられている、「Harvard」、「Stanford」、「Oxford」、「Princeton」、「Cambridge」と「MIT」は２〜７番。#8は「Imperial College London」、#9は「University of Chicago」そして#10は「UC Berkeley」。７つはアメリカの大学３つはイギリス。日本の大学の一番高いランクは東大（#30）。同じアジアでは、つぎにUniversity of Hong Kong（#34）だ。残念だが、長崎大学は世界トップ４００には入っていなかった。
Hit the link to take a look at the rankings. There are 7 US and 3 UK universities in the top 10. The first Asian university is Tokyo University, aka Todai, at 30, dropping 4 places from last year. University of Hong Kong is next at 34. Nagasaki University is nowhere to be seen.
There appears to be 5 criteria for the rankings.

ちなみに、ことし着任した、センター所属の助教はUC Berkeleyに留学していた! 僕がポスドックしていたUniversity of Guelphは＃276、よそういがいだ。
Our new assistant professor that just started this year did some work at UC Berkeley. And by the way, I did my postdoc at the Univ. of Guelph in Canada, which is not really relevant...
