Pacific Science Congressがおわりました。この最後の日、まだいくつかのセッションがあったが初日の2~3割程度の参加者しかのこっていない。ま、これはどの大会でもありえるが半分以上の発表者がドタキャン。要旨集に名前と課題をのせただけだ。 So the Pacific Science Congress is finished. On the last day, there were a number of sessions on-going, how ever 20 ~ 70% of the speakers never showed up! This isn't so unusual, but having more then half of the speakers to not show up is really bad. So all they did was get their abstract into the abstract book. みんなイイカゲンだ! Good grief! しかも、インドからきた博士課程の学生の発表のひどいこと。図もない、写真もない、統計もない。文字だらけの白いパワーポイント。会場の先生方はみんなやさしかった。「院生だからこそ、失敗してもいいんだよ」だってさ。 I think I had the displeasure of listening to the most terrible presentation I have ever seen. So, this PhD student from India begins his talk. No photos, no figures, and no stats. Maybe a table or two. Oh, and his slides where monochrome (i.e., black and white). All text.
